Print Summit

Print Summit is an annual ‘Knowledge Seminar’ hosted by The Bombay Master Printers’ Association, since 2005.

In Jan of 2020, BMPA hosted it’s 14th edition of PS (an almost unstinted timeline). And then came the C19 pandemic.

The BMPA is steadfast in its goal to construct an agenda that consolidates the progress made over past editions of PS which have been held ever since 2005 . We always strive to make the PS’ Key Note address most conspicuous and build on agenda whose content that resonates and heralds the changes and challenges shaping the industry we serve.

The printing press is a highly complex and sophisticated machinery (few even liken it to an aeroplane) as it gently casts impression by guiding delicate sheets of paper, chattel upon chattel, at incredible speeds of 18,000 or more per hour; involving crazy design symphonies orchestrated by an intricate interplay of chemistry and physics - before it eventually falls in hands of a consumer who remains vastly unaware of the perils that sheet of paper has gone through to safely “land” as a well-executed manoeuvre by man and machine before it could be made to land in the users’ hand.

The Fab Four of Beatles fame too sang out a tune on PS – I Love You. We the members of Mumbai (and also Indian) print industry, a vast swathe of mainly SMEs, with equal fervor sway to the tune of PS. (Interestingly the album is labeled Please Please Me and is their debut studio release.)

The PS we refer to is an acronym for Print Summit. It is our annual ‘Knowledge Seminar’ hosted by our Association (Bombay Master Printers’ Association – BMPA, since 2005) for stakeholders from the print, print-packaging and allied industries.

This annual event is undertaken by the Association as a unique effort to commemorate <Printers’ Day>. We enable this colloquium in memory of Johannes Gutenberg – a German (master) innovator whose invention, the movable type, revolutionised mass printing. It is no surprise that Time magazine aptly commemorated Gutenberg as “Man of the Millennium” at the dawn of this 21st Century.
